Hi Robert - We are sorry for the issues you've encountered but are happy to report your account is now active. We know your students will love participating in BoomWriter group writing activities, and please keep us posted if there's anything else you need. Thanks so much for your interest in BoomWriter!
Hi Dan - Hmmm, that's a tricky one and as much as we like to accommodate the requests of our users I'm not sure we can pull it off in this instance. You see our voting system is legit and adheres to our voting algorithm that cannot be manipulated, which I'm certain your students will appreciate. I am sorry I cannot be of better assistance to you with this but do appreciate you asking.
Thanks for asking this @Simone Heidrich - I will look into this and reply.
Thank you @Jerri O'Brien for your insight
Hi Simone - Thanks for your interest in conducting a BoomWriter Online Writing Camp, which I think you'll find to be a rather pleasant way to generate income during the summer.
Your question is a good one, as it will be difficult to provide very specific, detailed feedback for that many students. Unfortunately, the site is unable to lower the maximum number of students from the current 50. It truly is a trade-off in that more campers = less time dedicated to each one. Fortunately, the BW Camp manual does provide some PD that may prove helpful with providing effective feedback in an efficient manner. Another suggestion may be to focus on one or two aspects of writing (e.g. choosing the 'just right' word) or perhaps zero in on one part to compliment and one part that can be improved.
Again, these are simply a couple of suggestions that I hope prove helpful. Please keep us informed of how your camp registration goes and if we can be of further assistance.
Good day @elisabetta - thank you so much for asking your question within the community :-) Please let us know if we can be of more assistance.
Hello Elisabetta - Thanks for your questions,, though I'm curious about the students not being able to access the story start? When they login, students should be able to access any activity they're assigned to from their login 'Home' page. When they do, they'll be taken directly to the assignment where in the top right corner there is the option to 'Read' that will take them to the previous chapter. From there they can then use the arrow on the left side of the box to see the earlier chapters. Additionally, from the writing interface there's a blue ''Read Previous Chapter/s' button in the top right corner that will provide the students similar access to these chapters.
I hope this is helpful, and thanks so much for reaching out with this question.
Hi! Thank you so much for your question and your interest in being a BoomWriter Online Writing Camp Leader - leaders earn $65 per each registered camper. If you have 8 campers, you'll receive $500, with 10 campers - $650, etc... There is also no limit on the number of campers that can participate in a 5-day camp or in the number of camps you run.
Thanks for jumping in @Ken
Hi Elisabetta - Yes, as soon as you opt to 'End Voting' a winner should then be automatically determined by the site. You'll then have the option of editing the winning chapter yourself, or you can let the student who wrote the winning chapter edit it him/herself. If you have digital projector, you could also possibly conduct this with your entire class (my preferred method).
There are, however, rare instances in which there will be a tie. You as the teacher are able to read these finalists' submissions and then select the one you believe is the best. The teacher's vote essentially serves as the tie-breaker.
I hope this is all helpful!
